Chopta Is One Of The Least Explored Hamlets In The Himalayas. At An Elevation Of 2,680 M, It Serves As A Base Point To Famous Treks To Tungnath And Chandrashilla. It Also Offers Some Amazing 360 Degree Panorma Of Majestic Mountains Through The Trishul, Nanda Devi And Chaukhambha Peaks.
Tungnath peacefully adorned on the Chandranath Parvat is the highest Shiva temple in the world and the highest Panch Kedar temple of Uttarakhand.
It is the third (Tritiya Kedar) in the pecking order of the Panch Kedars. Tungnath is perched at an elevation of 3, 680 metres above sea level and is considered to be more than 1,000 years old.
Chandrashila that literally suggests the ‘Moon Rock’ is the summit of the Chandranath Parvat on which the Tungnath temple of Panch Kedar is situated. The majestic Chandrashila summit serves as a vantage point that offers a heavenly panorama of the Great Himalayas.
Devariya Nag Temple or Omkar Ratneshwar Mahadev is a temple dedicated to Nag Devta which is located enroute to Deoria Tal from Saari village.
Devariyatal is an emerald lake perched at a height of 2438 mts above sea level. During the early morning on a clear day, Devariya Tal blesses the tourists with miraculous reflections of Chaukhamba peaks on its crystal clear water.
Deoriatal is an easy and weekend trek for beginners. One can also extend their trek to Bisuri Tal, Chopta via Rohini Bugyal and even to Tungnath and Chandrasila.
Ukhimath is situated at an elevation of 1317 mts above sea level in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state. Ukhimath is also written as Okhimath sometimes. Ukhimath is the home of Lord Kedarnath and Madhyamaheshwar during winters. Worship is performed at the Omkareshwar Temple here during winters, when the temple of Kedarnath remains closed.
Ukhimath is mainly inhabited by the Rawal's who are the head priests (pundits) of Kedarnath. Snow capped peaks of the splendid Himalayan range are distinctly visible from Ukhimath.
Kalimath is a religious place located on the banks of Saraswati river in Rudraprayag district. Located at a height of 1800 mtr, Kalimath is one of the 108 Shakti Peeths in India. Kalimath lies on lap of nature offering salubrious and divine environment. Goddess Kali Temple is located in Kalimath.
Rohini Bugyal is a serene meadow hidden in the dense forest of Chopta Valley. While on the trek to Chandrashila peak via Deoria Tal, Rohini Bugyal serves as an ideal spot to camp. The spectacular views of Garhwal Himalayas including Kedarnath Peak, Chaukhamba, Nilkantha, Thaly Sagar, Kedar Dome, & more can be seen from Rohini Bugyal.
