The Chopta Chandrashila Trek is one of the most scenic and rewarding treks in Uttarakhand. Starting from the charming village of Sari, the trek takes you through dense forests, lush meadows, and breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. The highlight of the trek is the Chandrashila Summit (13,100 ft), which offers a 360° panoramic view of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Dome, and Chaukhamba. The trek also includes a visit to Tungnath Temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world, making it a perfect blend of adventure and spirituality.

Day 1: Drive from Rishikesh to Sari Village (200 km | 7-8 hrs)

  • Depart early morning from Rishikesh.

  • Enjoy scenic views of Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Ukhimath en route.

  • Reach Sari village by evening and check into a guesthouse/camp.

  • Evening at leisure—explore the village and acclimatize.

  • Overnight stay at Sari.

Day 2: Drive from Sari to Chopta & Trek to Tungnath & Chandrashila (9.5 km Trek) & Return

  • Early morning drive to Chopta (40 km | 1.5 hrs).

  • Begin the trek to Tungnath Temple (3.5 km) – visit the highest Shiva temple in the world.

  • Continue the steep 1.5 km trek to Chandrashila Peak (13,100 ft).

  • Enjoy stunning views of Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba peaks.

  • Trek back to Chopta and drive back to Sari village.

  • Overnight stay in Sari.

Day 3: Drive Back from Sari to Rishikesh (200 km | 7-8 hrs)

  • Depart after breakfast from Sari village.

  • Enjoy the scenic drive through Ukhimath, Rudraprayag, and Devprayag.

  • Reach Rishikesh by evening, marking the end of an incredible trek!

Getting Around with Ease

Via Air

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (210 km from Sari village). From there, you can take a taxi or bus to Rishikesh and then to Sari.

Via Train

The nearest railway station is Haridwar Railway Station (240 km from Sari). Regular trains connect Haridwar to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata

Via Road

Sari village is well-connected via road. You can take a direct bus or shared taxi from Rishikesh to Ukhimath and then to Sari. Private taxis are also available from Dehradun, Haridwar, or Rishikesh.
